Where the Same Number Stops Meaning the Same Thing

Read underground warning tape thickness with construction: a 150 um film and a 150 um laminate may behave differently. Tensile strength does not describe tear propagation, while excessive elongation can narrow the tape or distort the legend.

For a foil-based grade, compare total thickness with the actual metal detectable tape construction and state the metallic-layer thickness separately.

Detection Is a System Check, Not a Material Label

For routes that need a continuous conductive path, the warning tape with tracer wire structure should be checked for wire material, diameter, joints, test points, and end-to-end continuity.

Burial elevation is a separate design variable. Use the approved drawing and underground warning tape depth guidance for placement logic; field locator response must be verified under the intended cover condition.

Storage History Is Part of the Test Record

Store rolls dry and protected from sunlight, heat, moisture, crushing, and damaged packaging. Long roll pressure can cause telescoping or edge deformation; transport may add heat, compression, vibration, or handling damage. After unusual storage or transport, inspect roll shape, edges, print, unwind, and conductive continuity, and retest if conditions differ from the approved sample.
